Arkansas Common Core Standards were adopted July 12, 2010 by the Arkansas State Board of Education with full implementation in the 2013-14 school year. Controversy in Arkansas over the Common Core State Standards and tests aligned with the standards came to a head in 2015, a year that saw the state begin crafting a revised set of standards and switch test providers. In 2016 the state began revising the standards with implementation to begin in the 2016-2017 school year with the expectation of full implementation in the 2017-2018 school year.
