Taxonomic Services At a Glance
EdGate's staff has analyzed hundreds of thousands of educational standards, pieces of content and textbooks, and has expertly synthesized the curricular concepts into packages that help publishers with content development.
Our premier product, the EdGate Concept Index™ is a taxonomic list of educational concepts and all associated K-12 Standards. The Index is packaged by subject and grade range. The terms have been developed through the EdGate Controlled Vocabulary™ and reflect the concepts that are taught in the classroom as part of the educational standards.
Advantages of licensing the EdGate Concept Index™:
→ Provides an efficient way to match content to state standards through concept matching of content to standards;
→ Provides a cost-effective way to match thousands of pieces of content (for example, books, articles, news stories, film clips, images, software lessons or a combination of these things) to a concept being taught in a specific standard;
→The searches are concept-based so that the client can create a very powerful search that returns results much broader that just a specific term in a standard;
→Allows full integration into client search mechanisms.
EdGate's standard delivery format for the Concept Index is in a hierarchical format. This can be customized to meet a client need or request and can be broken into sub-sets by:
Node: Individual granular term
Course: Grouped by commonly taught courses such as Algebra I or American History
