Assessment Information:
Connecticut officially joined and is currently a governing state in the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC).

SBAC: http://www.smarterbalanced.org/about/member-states/#connecticut

State assessments will remain unchanged until 2014.

2012-2013 Develop items for summative and interim assessments and make pool of interim items available
2013-2014 – Complete pilot-testing of summative items
2014-2015 – Grades 3-8 and 11 CCSS-based summative assessment administered

More Information:
Connecticut has already started working with districts to implement the standards.  The work includes producing guiding documents (started in 2010) for use by districts to facilitate curricula revisions and expect districts, with assistance, to continue to revise portions of curricula each school year, knowing that the new assessment system will be in place for the 2014-2015 school year. Some districts in CT have already completed revisions and are well on the way to full implementation.
